Receiving Inspiration (Precept Upon Precept)

“Knowledge carefully recorded is knowledge available in time of need.  Spiritually sensitive information should be kept in a sacred place that communicates to the Lord how you treasure it.  This practice enhances the likelihood of your receiving further light.”
Elder Richard G. Scott   (“Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge”, Ensign, Nov. 1993, 8).

(#1-AMD) In 2008 Thomas S Monson was ordained the 16th prophet. He said, “I have a testimony of this great work in which we are engaged. I don’t know when I first obtained it. I think it came step by step from goodly parents. I have always had a testimony. The sweetest experience I know in life is to feel a prompting and act upon it and later find out that it was the fulfillment of someone’s prayer or someone’s need. And I always want the Lord to know if he needs an errand run, Tom Monson will run that errand for Him. I’m so grateful for His example and thats who we serve. This is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I honor that name. I honor this church. The work is true and I testify of this truth from the depths of my soul and would say would God bless us everyone in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.” “On the Lord’s Errand” President Thomas S Monson http://stream.byui.edu/VideoPlayer/BYUIplayer.html?StartCue=0&EndCue=3632&VideoName=1220_dvd&VideoType=libraryvideos

(#2-AMD) At age 12, after saving a teenage girl from drowning by pulling her by the hair up across his inner tube he said, “I realized I had participated in saving a human life. Heavenly Father had permitted me, a deacon, to float by at precisely the moment I was needed. That day I learned that God, our Heavenly Father, knows each of us and permits us to …“On the Lord’s Errand” President Thomas S Monson http://stream.byui.edu/VideoPlayer/BYUIplayer.html?StartCue=0&EndCue=3632&VideoName=1220_dvd&VideoType=libraryvideos

(#4-AMD) “But if we ignore those promptings, the light of the Spirit will fade. Our agency will be limited or lost, and we will lose the confidence and ability to act.” "To Act for Ourselves: The Gift and Blessing of Agency" by Elder Robert D. (#5-AMD) "When it is for the Lord’s purposes, He can bring anything to our remembrance. That should not weaken our determination to record impressions of the Spirit. Inspiration carefully recorded shows God that His communications are sacred to us. Recording will also enhance our ability to recall revelation. Such recording of direction of the Spirit should be protected from loss or intrusion by others." Elder Richard G Scott "How to Obtain Revelation and Inspiration for Your Regular Life" April 2013 http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/how-to-obtain-revelation-and-inspiration-for-your-personal-life?lang=eng

(#6-AMD) "Humility is a fertile soil where spirituality grows and produces the fruit of inspiration to know what to do. It gives access to divine power to accomplish what must be done. An individual motivated by a desire for praise or recognition will not qualify to be taught by the Spirit. An individual who is arrogant or who lets his or her emotions influence decisions will not be powerfully led by the Spirit." (#7-AMD) “Some of you may be shy by nature or consider yourselves inadequate to respond affirmatively to the call to serve. Remember that this is the Lord’s work, and when we are on the Lord’s errand, we are entitled to the Lord’s help. The Lord will shape the back to bear the burden placed upon it.” "The Lord Needs Missionaries" by President Thomas S Monson January 2011 https://www.lds.org/liahona/2011/01/the-lord-needs-missionaries?lang=eng

(#8-AMD)“The gift of the Holy Ghost, if you consent, will guide and protect you and even correct your actions. It is a spiritual voice that comes into the mind as a thought or a feeling put into your heart. . . . It is not expected that you go through life without making mistakes, but you will not make a major mistake without first being warned by the promptings of the Spirit. This promise applies to all members of the Church.” "Counsel to Youth" by Elder Boyd K Packer in the Liahona November 2011 https://www.lds.org/liahona/2011/11/counsel-to-youth?lang=eng

(#9-AMD)“Sometimes the Lord reveals truth to you when you are not actively seeking it, such as when you are in danger and do not know it. However, the Lord will not force you to learn. You must exercise your agency to authorize the Spirit to teach you. As you make this practice in your life, you will be more perceptive to the feelings that come with spiritual guidance.” "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance" by Elder Richard G Scott November 2009 https://www.lds.org/ensign/2009/11/to-acquire-spiritual-guidance?lang=eng

(#10-AMD) “The Lord’s purposes are often accomplished as we pay heed to the guidance of the Spirit. I believe that the more we act upon the inspiration and impressions which come to us, the more the Lord will entrust to us His errands.”  "Consider the Blessings" by President Thomas S Monson October 2012 https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/10/consider-the-blessings?lang=eng
